The Story Behind the Clip

Like most Atelier Reel creations, this one started with a moment of frustration. Somewhere on a long drive from Stockholm to the French Alps, the X100VI was pulled out of the glove box — only to reveal it had switched itself on along the way. The battery was dead, and the SD card had a blackout video long as a feature film. That was the moment we knew this problem needed a real solution.

After a few rounds of testing viral TikTok fixes (including a brief masking-tape era), we sketched a better idea: a simple, tool-free clip that holds the ON/OFF switch exactly where you want it. OFF.

The first version worked, but it introduced a new issue: it was easy to misplace. To solve that, we added a discreet attachment point. A few late nights and dozens of fit tests later, we landed on a version we trust on our own fuji. We think you'll trust it on yours, too.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this?
A precision clip that locks the power switch on a Fujifilm X100VI in the OFF position, preventing accidental power-on.
Who is it for?
Fujifilm X100VI owners who carry their camera in a bag. Especially useful for travel, street photography, and anyone tired of finding their camera turned on with a dead battery.
What problem does it solve?
The X100VI power switch is easily bumped in bags and pockets. The camera turns on, the lens extends, the battery drains, and the shutter fires. This clip holds the switch firmly in place.
How does it compare to alternatives?
Common DIY fixes include gaffer tape (leaves residue), rubber bands (slip off, look unprofessional), and simply being careful (doesn't work). The Power Switch Lock is purpose-built to fit the exact switch geometry with no adhesive or modification.
Will the Power Lock Clip fit the Fujifilm X100V or other X100 models?
Yes, it does fit the X100V. However, it was precision-tuned for the X100VI. One snap-fit point is ever so slightly tight on the V. Most users simply press it up and down a few times to let it settle in, or use fine sandpaper or a file to remove a bit of plastic. Other X100 models are untested and not officially supported. If you try it, we'd love to hear whether it worked out!
Will the Power Lock Clip scratch or damage my camera?
No. The clip is designed with safe tolerances, printed using non-abrasive material, and only applies light pressure to keep your power switch in the OFF position. Tip: if you've been shooting in sand/dust, wipe the area before installing (dust is the usual cause of marks with any accessory).
Does it lock the camera ON too?
No—this is designed to lock the switch in the OFF position to prevent accidental power-ons inside a bag. It's meant to be removed when you want to turn the camera on.
Can I leave it on while shooting?
You can, but most people use it as a quick "bag lock." For normal use: clip on before packing your camera, clip off when you're ready to shoot.
Will it affect the power switch or wear it out over time?
It's designed to apply minimal pressure, just enough to prevent bumps from flipping the switch. Used as intended, it shouldn't cause any wear.
Is it easy to install and remove?
Yes. It's a snap-fit design—no tools, no adhesive. Install in seconds and remove with a gentle lift/slide.
What if the fit feels a bit tight on my camera?
Snap-fit accessories can vary slightly by camera unit. If it feels tight: "Cycle" it a few times (on/off the camera body area) to let it settle. If needed, use very fine sandpaper or a nail file and remove a tiny amount from the tight point. If you're unsure, contact us and we'll help.
What material is it made from?
It's 3D-printed using a non-abrasive, camera-safe material chosen for durability and a clean snap-fit.
Will it work with cases, half cases, or straps?
It depends on the case design around the power switch area. Minimal half cases often work, but bulky cases may block installation. If you share the case model, we can advise.
Does it work in cold or hot weather?
Normal everyday conditions are fine. If the clip is exposed to extreme heat (e.g., left in a hot car), any plastic can soften slightly. Let it return to normal temperature before use.
Why not just use tape or a rubber band?
Tape leaves residue and rubber bands can shift or snag. This clip is a clean, purpose-built power switch lock designed to be quick, discreet, and reliable.
